Malac
October 26, 2010Im not very good in keeping a blog as you can see. Our first set project back was to produce a short film based on a script called “Malac”. After being put into groups we discussed locations and ideas for the footage. We were told to go and film certain shots to practise filming before our project. In our group we did a lot of experimenting with the camera as our footage wasnt perfect we got a bollucking by jools and he basically told us that our footage was all crap. At least we learnt to set our scene in perfect position before filming. Jack showed us photographs of his basement and we decided that this was perfect location for our film.

Whiteboard animation
January 18, 2010In our first week on the course we were set to create an animated film using a white board. This was a group assignment and we were put in groups of six to make this short film. In the beginning of the film we had to show a box on one side and by the end of the film it had to somehow of jumped to the other side. We drew an animated background on the white board with a black pen. We drew a house as the main feature in our background. Every time there was a movement in the film we had to change part of the drawing by rubbing part of it out and adding something in. Even though the peice was only ten seconds long it took us two hours to make as we had to create 120 shots as it took twelve shots to create each second of the film. I have created an animated piece in the past but not on a white board having to draw everything shown in the film, therefore this was a new experience for me which i enjoyed very much.
